Common Questions About Payroll

What business owners ask before handing over their pay runs, super, and STP lodgement.

Which payroll software do you use?
Xero Payroll by default — it integrates natively with STP Phase 2 and handles most Australian awards out of the box. I also work in MYOB and KeyPay if you're already set up.
Can you handle contractors as well as employees?
Yes. ABN lookups, voluntary PAYG withholding agreements, and the contractor-vs-employee test are all part of standard onboarding.
What if I only have 1 or 2 employees?
Micro-employer packages are a flat fee per pay run. You shouldn't be paying enterprise prices to pay one admin assistant.
What happens if STP lodgement fails?
I re-check, fix the issue (usually an ATO rejection code tied to a data mismatch), and re-lodge within 24 hours. You get notified and a short write-up of what went wrong.
Can you help onboard new employees?
Yes. Tax File Number declaration, super choice form, bank details, employment type setup, award/EBA selection, and payroll ID — all handled so the first pay run is smooth.
Do you handle end-of-year payroll finalisation?
Yes — STP finalisation, reconciliation of PAYG/super balances, and issue of income statements via ATO myGov. Planned in April, delivered before 14 July every year.
